Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Rite will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude visitation. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 126 East Pike Street, Clarksburg, WV at 10:00 a.m. with Presider Father William A. Anderson. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.  In addition to flowers, donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,  262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38015

Virginia Carol Garrett, 69, of Nutter Fort passed away on Sunday,
August 27, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born in Clarksburg, WV on March 25, 1948 daughter of the
late Frank Anthony Spenia I and Margaret Rose Talerico Spenia.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Melvin “Gary” Garrett. They just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary having been married on August 17, 1968.

 

Also surviving are her three sons, Brian Garrett and wife Heather of Farragut, TN, Jason Garrett and wife Kelly and Gary Garrett and wife Deanna all of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Addison, Lily, Brantley, Lucas and Vienna.  Virginia was also excitedly expecting her sixth grandchild, a grandson, in November.  She has two brothers, Frank Spenia II and wife Becky of Las Vegas, NV and Sam Spenia and wife Lisa of Indianapolis, IN and nieces and nephews, Sara, Joseph, Maggie and Sophie.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by
grandparents, Sam and Julie Talerico; Aunt Rose Talerico; Uncle Joe and
Aunt Martha Lopez; Uncle Larry and Aunt Mary Martino; Uncle Tony and Aunt Rose Talerico; Uncle John Talerico; Nephew Frank A. Spenia III; In-laws Dick and Lena Garrett and John and Mary Lenoche.

She was raised in Kelly Hill and was a 1965 graduate of Notre Dame High
School. She was owner of Garrett’s Gas and Groceries, a member of Our
Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Perpetual Daughters, and Sons
of Italy. She loved her family, especially her husband, sons, and grandchildren.  She enjoyed family vacations throughout the United States and abroad and summer cookouts with family and friends.
