Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where there will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. James Catholic Church, 2017 Pride Avenue, Clarksburg, on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Akila Rodrigo as celebrant.   Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery with Full Military Graveside Rites Accorded.

Carlo Albert “Al” Casalinuova, 91, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in Myrtle Beach, SC.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on December 15, 1926, a son of the late Salvatore and Maria Passantino Casalinuova.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Louise Mancina Casalinuova, in September of 2006, and his son, Sam Casalinuova.

 

Mr. Casalinuova is survived by one son, John Casalinuova and wife Michelle of Fairmont, and their children, Joseph and Jacob Casalinuova; three daughters, Mary Taylor and husband Tom of Myrtle Beach, and their children, Stacy Beckman, Robbie Taylor and wife Dawn, Chris Taylor and wife Holly, and Carla Guyton and husband Ben; Betty Hall and husband Skip and son, Donny Hollen; and  Carla Oliverio and husband Pat of Bridgeport, and their children, Briana Ryan and husband Claude, Patrick Oliverio, Carlo Oliverio, and Trey Oliverio. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Alexis Beckman, Madison Beckman, Connor Beckman, Rhett Taylor, James Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Jackson Guyton, Maceo Ryan and Nova Ryan; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, wife, and son, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Jordan and Frank Casalinuova; and three sisters, Antoinette Tricase, Arphena Marano and Virginia Bellotte.

 

Mr. Casalinuova graduated from Salem College where he played football. He went on to play semi-pro football, and coached a National Tumbling Team and won a National Award.

 

He served as a Veteran in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from the Harrison County Board of Education where he taught at Bridgeport Junior High.  During his teaching career he coached all three sports at the middle school and high school level.

 

He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Sons of Italy, and the WV State Teachers Association.
