Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday June 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Sargent presiding.     Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Charlene Cox Bates, age 57, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at her residence following a brief illness.

 

 

She was born in Clarksburg, on July 15, 1961, a daughter of the late Clarence “Bud” and Mary Prieto Cox.

 

 

Charlene is survived by her husband of 39 years, Gary W. Bates, whom she married on July 28, 1979.

 

 

Also surviving are one son, Michael Paul Bates of Clarksburg, one daughter Maria Ammons and husband Brian of Lost Creek; three grandchildren, Madison Ammons, Lindsey Ammons and Kylee Bates; and one sister, Darlene Heater of Anmoore.

 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Renee Hurst.

 

 

Charlene was a graduate of Bridgeport High School Class of 1979 and worked for Tudors Biscuit World.

 

 

She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and loved her cats and all animals. She was a kind and generous person to whomever she met and was hard working.
