Charles Loring Gumbus, 65, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Cleveland, OH on August 14, 1950, a son of the late Charles Loring and Irma Elizabeth Scott Gumbus, Sr., whom he lost early in his childhood and was raised by relatives.
He is survived by his companion, Bonnie Jean Glendening; and one son, Charles Gumbus, III, U.S. Air Force, HI. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Kay Gumbus.
Mr. Gumbus was a United States Navy Veteran, and was a retired coal miner with 21 years of service at Martinka Coal Company in Fairmont.
There will be no public visitation.
A private graveside service will be held at the WV National Cemetery.
