Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, October 14th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rick Owens officiating.   Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Clarence Maurice Ashcraft, 83, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on June 28, 1935, a son of the late George Thomas and Dorothy Johnson Ashcraft.

 

Mr. Ashcraft is survived by two sons, Mark Allen Ashcraft and wife Krystal of Seattle, Washington, and Sean Lowther and companion Theresa of Good Hope; five grandchildren, Johnette Ashcraft, Mark D. Ashcraft, Rebecca Ashcraft, Brandon, and Luke; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Ashcraft of Houston, TX; his sister, Linda Elsbury of Madison, OH; and extended family member, Deborah Powell; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Otis.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashcraft was preceded in death by his son, John Edward Ashcraft; five brothers, Stanley, Jesse, Michael, Nelson and Rodney Ashcraft; and four sisters, Diane Wiseman, Barbara Persinger, Norma Gallo, and Cathy Ashcraft.

 

Maurice attended Victory High School, and retired from American Optical of Clarksburg with 30 years of service. He was the owner and operator of Maurice’s Place for 40 years where he made many lifelong friends.  Over the years, Maurice hosted many friends/family gatherings at his place of business.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He was Protestant by faith and a member of the VFW Post 573. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and loved watching all of WVU sports.
