Josephine G. Ferrari, 93, of Pride Avenue, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, in the United Hospital Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on September 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Frank and Rose Marie Tiano Lopez.

She was married to Louis P. “Dutch” Ferrari on September 1, 1951. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before his passing on November 3, 1999.

Josephine has four sons, Frank L. Ferrari and his wife Nancy S. of Clarksburg, the late Louis A. “Bubby” Ferrari who passed away on January 28, 2010, and his wife Patricia V. Post Ferrari of Bridgeport, the late Robert Michael Ferrari who passed away in infancy, and David A. “Hotdog” Ferrari and his wife Suzette of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Frank N., Vincentia J., L. Anthony Jr., Miranda J. and Alisha P. Ferrari, and Lee A. and Cheryl S. Romine; one brother, Frank “Buddy” Lopez of North View, one sister-in-law, Rosetta Ferrari (Ross) of North View; and several nieces and nephews including Catherine Belcastro Hickman (the late Bill Hickman), Mary Jean Blake (Larry), Patsy Belcastro (Dinah) and Michael Ferrari (Lois), Tina Lykens (Scott), and Rosemary Phillips (Scott).

She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Teresa Barile (John), Mary Gary (Eugene), Virginia Marra (Joe), Adeline Lopez, and Lucille Fragale (Bill); special nieces, Barbara Rose Marra, Margaret Rose Gary and Rosemarie Merandi (Frank) who was raised as their sister.

Josephine was a 1940 graduate of Victory High School, and was formerly employed with Hazel Atlas Glass Factory, Harrison County Courthouse, and was a poll worker for state elections for many years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Josephine fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting Italy at the age of 82 with her son Bubby and her grandson Anthony. She was charter member of the Honorary Council of the WV Italian Heritage Festival since its inception, and you would always see her in her front row seat by the stage.  In keeping with her tradition of spaghetti every Sunday, she would be surrounded by her family of children and grandchildren, which were dear to her heart.  Josephine never met a stranger, and everyone who knew her loved her.  She will be deeply missed.
