Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation.   The service will be held at the Good Hope New Bethel United Methodist Church, on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  with Reverend Destry Daniels presiding.  Mrs. Burnside will lie in state one hour prior to the service.   Interment will follow in the Good Hope Masonic Cemetery.

Kathryn Marie “Kack” Allman Burnside, 95, of Good Hope Community, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Serenity Hope Assisted Living in Lost Creek.

 

She was born on December 23, 1921, in Harrison County, WV, a daughter of the late Bryan and Violet Law Allman.Kack, as she was affectionately known, grew up on her parent’s dairy farm in southern Harrison County, the Law Allman farm.

 

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Homer Jackson Burnside.

 

She is survived by two children, Diane Marie Burnside West and husband William “Bill” of Clarksburg and Gregory Gail “Greg” Burnside and wife Cathy of Lost Creek; six grandchildren, Whitney Ann West Wilson and husband Roy of West Milfrord, Hope Alexandra West Pill and husband Eric of Shinnston, Rachel Denise Burnside Leaseburg of Clarksburg, Eric Austin Burnside and wife Alanna of Good Hope, Dennis Jackson Burnside, Jr. and wife Beth Ann of Clarksburg, Darren Gail Burnside and wife Stacey of Parsons, WV and Duane Burnside and wife Brenda of Charlotte, NC; 16 great grandchildren, Regan Wilson, Reece Wilson, Cambria Pill, Jace Pill, Danielle Burnside, Cole Burnside, Casey Burnside, Jonna Burnside, Julia Burnside, Jocelyn Burnside, Noah Burnside, Audrey Burnside, Parker Leaseburg, Henry Leaseburg, Dillon Burnside and Hannah Burnside.  She is also survived by one sister, Dottie Twigg and husband Robert of Bridgeport, one sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Allman of Good Hope; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Jackson “Denny” Burnside and grandson, William “Billy” West, III.

 

Kack and her husband Jack both graduated from Unidis High School, where Kack was a cheerleader and class officer.  She graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1938.

 

She formerly was a member of the West Milford United Methodist Church for 30 years, and over a 40-year member of Good Hope New Bethel United Methodist. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Good Hope Chapter 109 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a member for 50 years.  She also served as a leader of 4-H Club in West Milford for over 10 years, was a member of the 4-H All Stars, and a former member of the West Milford Women’s Club.
