Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where Catholic Burial Rites will be conducted on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00 am with Father Casey Mahone presiding.   Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Alma Susan Helmick Amodio, 95, of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 in Frederick, MD.

 

She was born in Sutton, WV on February 11, 1922, a daughter of the late John Jackson and Dolly Carr Helmick.

 

She was was preceded in death by her husband Angelo Amodio, who died on May 11, 1999 and her son, Pete Amodio, who died on July 21, 2012 .

 

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Nikpourfard and her husband Dariush of Federick, MD; four grandchildren, Brooke Hipp (Daniel), Zachary Amodio (Sara), Chad Amodio and Pareesa Nikpourfard; three great grandsons: Kyle Amodio, Grady Amodio and Brody Amodio; and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Amodio of Salem, and one sister, Wilma Lopez of Falling Waters, WV.
Mrs. Amodio was a graduate of Shinnston High School. Alma worked for the B & O Railroad, for the elections and at Stone and Thomas Department Store. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church.

 

Alma’s life was centered on family and friends. From cards celebrating every holiday with parents to great nieces and nephews, Christmas care packages, to a cup of coffee and homemade applesauce cake, she showered love on friends and families alike. An adopted Italian, she enjoyed hosting her traditional Christmas Eve gatherings for generations of loved ones for 70 years. She was also known for her Christmas cookies that she sent cross-country to family and friends.

 

Her door was always open and her house filled with laughter. She was NanNan to her grandchildren and to their friends. Dance, baseball, football, marching bands became her passion as she insisted on attending all of her grandchildren’s sports activities and dance recitals.
