Burrell Jene Quickle, 83, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, returned to our Lord on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born on February 21, 1941, in Lost Creek, West Virginia, Burrell was the fourth of five children born to the late Okey Columbus Quickle and Mona Marie Wetzel Quickle.

Burrell was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen Louise Biesczad Quickle, also of Clarksburg; his son, Kevin Quickle, of Reading, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Michele Quickle Lawrie and husband John Lawrie, of Clarksburg; and his brothers, David Quickle, Donald Quickle, and Dale Quickle.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Christopher Quickle and Thomas Douglas Quickle; and his sister, Mary Ann Quickle.

After meeting Helen, Burrell converted to Catholicism, a faith he embraced wholeheartedly. He was strong in his Catholic faith and found great comfort in daily prayer. He and Helen prayed the Rosary together every day, a testament to their shared devotion and enduring love.

A proud veteran, Burrell served his country honorably in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Specialist Fourth Class in the Signal Corps and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, upon his return to the United States. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After completing his military service, Burrell returned to his home state of West Virginia and settled in Clarksburg with his family. Over the years, he worked diligently in various roles with the West Virginia Department of Transportation’s Road Maintenance Division, United Parcel Service, and Overnite Transportation.

Burrell was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed antiquing, traveling and fishing. He was also a passionate sports fan, cheering faithfully for the West Virginia Mountaineers football and basketball teams, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Burrell’s dedication to his faith, his family, his service to his country, and his love for his home state will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
