There was no one like Dewey. He always gave his best and brought out the best in others. He worked hard and enjoyed doing it. I was blessed to be his classmate, teammate , and friend. We enjoyed many victories and suffered through defeats. We enjoyed numerous times together, going to Kings Island , preparing for our senior football season, and going to the State Basketball Tournament to name a few. In preparing for the senior football the day before practice started we rode to Jackson's Mill and back which was fifty miles round trip. We went to the State Basketball Tournament and ate at Elby's before the game , we each ate two Big Boy platters and two hot fudge cakes. The waitress couldn't believe we ate it all. Dewey was the best. To the Rowe family I send you prayers in this time of sorrow. Please be comforted knowing that the 64 years Dewey was with us spread he love and laughter everywhere. I loved him like a brother.

To Marsha, Brieanna,Lilabug,Julian and family. There aren't enough words to tell you the sorrow I fill for the loss of Dewey, your beloved brother, father, grandfather and my best friend. I would like to tell you all a couple of funny things about Dewey that might put a smile on your face and say "That was Dewey." We would try and go to Myrtle Beach at least once a year. The first year we went Dewey was so excited to get there he took off his shoes and shirt rolled up his pants, and sprinted to the water like a running back. When he got to the water he turned around with his back to the ocean. The wave hit him on the legs and as the water rolled back to the ocean, it swept the sand from under his feet and Dewey fell backwards in the water with his billfold and good cloths on. Just how you want to start a vacation., That year Dewey also discovered how much fun it was to drive those go-carts around the tracks against other people. There went our money for the week and hello to the over flow area of the State Park camp ground. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, if you know what I mean. I also got him interested in motorcycles, so what did he buy? He had the only Moto Guzzi in Harrison County. It was like a tank, and on one trip to Tennessee we left at 7:00PM and was in a hotel in Bluefield at 9:30. So in ending, if you ever needed him on Sundays afternoon he would be at Compton's Bowling Alley for our weekly bowling practice. My prayers to his family and know that Dewey loved you all very much.

So sorry to hear of Dewey’s passing. I knew him through Wendlings and looked forward to our weekly meetings where we would pick on each other and always have a laugh. He was a great man. Deepest sympathies to all family and friends.

Regardless of the different eras of the classes over the years, Dewey was easily the most recognizable person from Roosevelt Wilson High School. Dewey exemplified the word ‘Never’. Dewey never met a stranger, Dewey never had an enemy, Dewey never gave anything except his best, and Dewey never allowed a dull moment whenever he was around. In return, all of us will never forget Dewey and pray that the Lord never stops blessing Dewey in Heaven.

Prayers for strength and comfort during this hard time for the whole family especially his daughter. I got the pleasure to meet Dewey’s loving, caring daughter daily as she would enter the doors of UHC to visit with her father. You have a very special Angel ? watching over you now. God Bless the whole family.
