Family and friends may call at the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church, Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm with Reverend Brian Boley presiding.   In keeping with his wishes, Mr. McCann will be cremated following the service.

Eugene E. McCann, 85, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the United Hospital Center.  He was born in Nutter Fort on July 25, 1931, a son of the late Linton and Estella Jane Rowe McCann.

 

He is survived by his wife, Clara Agnes Primm McCann, whom he married on May 17, 1956; four children, Charles L. McCann of Virginia, Bruce E. McCann of Clarksburg, Melissa L. McCann of Clarksburg, and Jason B. McCann and wife, Tyson of Grafton; 10 grandchildren, Charles, Jamie, Heather, Ashley, Amber, Buddy, Patty, Jacob, Ayden and Isiah; four great grandchildren, Isiah, Leah, Katrinka and Arianna; one brother-in-law, Charles Primm of Illinois; and seven nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa J. McCann.  Mr. McCann was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary Lee Hannah, his sister Kathleen Hostutler; and his brother James Linton McCann.

 

Mr. McCann attended Roosevelt Wilson High School and finished his education in the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict and was proud of the time he spent in the Army serving his country during war time.  He was employed as an Auto Material Adjuster for Geico Insurance, and later retiring with Aetna Insurance.  He was also a lifetime member of Meuse Argonne Post #573 VFW and Roy E. Parrish Post #13 American Legion and was a member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church.

 

Growing up, he was fondly referred to as “Tick” and as “Moose Man”. Mr. McCann had a passion for working on and restoring cars.  He simply loved cars, but above all else, he loved his children.
