Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Tim Sandy presiding. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where Full Military Graveside rites will be accorded.

Harold Ross Swiger, Sr. 80, of Hepzibah, WV, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the VA Nursing Facility.
He was born in Dola, WV, on August 5, 1937, a son of the late Clyde Addison and Genevieve Martin Swiger.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Octavisa “Mila” Robles Swiger, whom he married on September 26, 1956.
Mr. Swiger is also survived by one son, Harold Ross Swiger, Jr. and wife Carol of Davenport, FL; one daughter, Margaret Bond and husband Brian of Claremont, NH; four grandchildren, Ashlie McKay and husband Mark, Thomas R. Swiger and wife Lindsay, Harold W. Parkhurst, IV, and Krista Nicole Pina and husband Paul; five great grandchildren, Hannella McKay, Judah McKay, Micah McKay, Cayden Pina, and Aria Pina. Also surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth Swiger of Minnesota, Rebecca Poole and husband Paul of Grafton, and Catherine Wagner of Bridgeport.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Vanscoy and two brothers, Buddy Swiger and Mickey Swiger.
He retired after 21 years of service as a Sergeant First Class in in the U.S. Army. While serving our country in the military he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Korean Defense Service Medal.
He attended Centerbranch Church for 25 years, and was a member and former President of West Virginian’s for Life. He was a member and former President of American Values and volunteered at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. He loved traveling to New Hampshire to visit his daughter and grandchildren.
