Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. where a service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor John Linaburg as officiant. Interment will follow in the WV National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Ln, Grafton, WV, where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 620 Sea Island Road, Suite 324, St. Simons Island, GA 31522.

I served with Jerry in the Army. Infantry basic in 1983 at Ft. Benning, then on to Ft. Ord as the "first" Light Infantry Battalion in the Army. We were in the field training for 9 of 12 months in 1984; Light Fighters courses, evaluations and any small unit training you can think of. It was grueling, but people like Jerry made it the best times of our life. Our years passed and we moved on but this time was very special. Jerry was an exemplary soldier. He had you back and everyone had his. Buccaneer's by God! Dammed fine soldiers!
