Nancy Buffey Hartman, 84, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at UHC surrounded by family and friends.
Nancy was born August 10, 1941 in Clarksburg, WV. She is the youngest of 13 children born to Michael Buffey and Victoria Perris Buffey.
Nancy attended Roosevelt Wilson High School and graduated with the class of 1959. She continued her education at Salem College, where she earned a master’s degree in education. As an educator, her favorite time of her teaching career was at Liberty High School.
Nancy was the mother of two children, Jodie Renee Hartman Vaughn (husband Larry) of Houston, TX and Gary Lee Hartman (wife Jeannette) of Nutter Fort, WV and the loving grandmother of three: Andrew Franklin Vaughn, Nathen Lee Hartman and Leia Renee Hartman.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Victoria Buffey, and siblings Phyllis (Gladys) Ciancio, Barbara (Bea) Nutter, Mary Hall, Guy Buffey, Angela (Addie) Gallo, Virginia (Uggie) Williams, Rosa Lee (Unnie) Moran, Margaret (Muggie) Watson, JoAnn Leeson and John Buffey.
She is survived by sisters Patricia Toothman and Rebecca (Becky) Sprout.
Nancy loved to sing and enjoyed Karaoke especially while living in Myrtle Beach the last 10 years. Her favorite hobby was playing ‘the machines’ with her sisters.
