Cheryl Donette Cunningham, 71, of Clarksburg, passed away at home on April 27, 2026, after an extended illness.

Donette was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in 1972 and afterwards began her career at CNG Transmission, retiring after 42 years of service.

Donette was a vibrant light whose warmth passed on to all who knew her and she had a wonderful sense of humor. Donette loved music, gardening, and had trained to be a practitioner of Reiki massage. She loved making trips up to Lilydale, NY, for her own spiritual growth.

Donette is preceded in death by her father, Austin Donal Cunningham, her mother, Lois Gailene Cunningham, her sister, Beth Ann Gallo, and Beth’s husband, Samuel Gallo.

She is survived by her brother, Michael Cunningham, and his wife, Deborah Cunningham; her son, Zachary Cunningham, and his partner, Alexandra Emery; and her grandchildren, Noah Cunningham, Madison Cunningham, and Liam Emery; her several nieces and nephews, and extended family. She is also survived by long-time friend and devoted caregiver, James Freeman.

Donette will be dearly missed by us all.

In keeping with her wishes, Donette was cremated.

Family and friends will gather at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, where a memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm.
