Charles R. “Charlie” Westfall, 80, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Clarksburg on August 23, 1938, a son of the late Charles T. Westfall and Dorothy Clark Wiatt Wiseman, and stepson of Phillip W. Wiseman.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sue Nutter Westfall, whom he married on December 21, 1968.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeff Westfall and his wife Lori of Clarksburg, and Brad Nutter and his wife Anna of Clarksburg; one grandson, Dalton K. Westfall; one brother, Paul Wiseman and his wife Nancy of Clarksburg; two sisters, Sue McCoy of Clarksburg, and Marty Wiseman of Clarksburg; and two nephews, Sila and Joel Nutter.

Mr. Westfall was a graduate of Victory High School and was a Welder by trade for 45 years. He became certified through the American Welding Society in Pittsburgh, enabling him to weld on the New River Gorge Bridge. He was also certified by the Department of Energy Mines and Mineral Division. Charlie was also a part time farmer. He was Methodist by faith.

Charlie was a people person and loved life. He always had a joke to tell and took great pleasure in helping others. His grandson son Dalton was the high light of his life. He never missed Dalton’s sports activities and would spend the next day making his rounds to McDonald’s, Blue Bird Store and Hardees bragging about him. Every Sunday Charlie met “the gang” at the Mall. He also loved birds, deer and all animals. Charlie’s favorite past-time was spending time in “his haven”, his garage where he would talk to anyone who stopped by. Family was also very important to Charlie, and he loved when they came for Sunday dinners, holidays or just stopped by.

Special thanks to Charlie’s “Helpers”; Brad and Anna Nutter, Jeff and Lori Westfall, Rick King, Amy Kiersten, Dalton Westfall and Sam and Lana White.
