David Scott McInnes, 30, of Clarksburg, WV passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025.
He was born in Clarksburg on June 7, 1994, a son of the late Sydney McInnes and Barbara Jane Workman.
He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Caitlyn Lang, who he loved very much and never gave up on him.
In addition, David is survived by his brother and the last member of his immediate family, Jesse McInnes of Clarksburg; one nephew, Brennon McInnes; niece, Laura McInnes; two aunts, Elizabeth Garrett and husband James of Jane Lew and Betsy Workman and companion Terry Ash of Doddridge County; one uncle, Jeff Workman and companion Sue Nutter of Kincheloe; and three amazing friends, Jesse Clevenger, John Messenger, and John Demopoulos; a special cousin, Kisha Beverly; as well as several cousins and many more friends.
David spent some of his best years at the Clarksburg Mission as a resident and then an employee – but most importantly as a brother. The relationships he formed there and at the Sober Living Home carried him through his darkest times. They were his family and he was theirs.
David’s smile was infectious and, though he was meek and mild, he did not know a stranger. He was a staple in the recovery community and everybody loved him. To talk to someone who knew David is to hear a personal memory held close to their heart – not one would speak ill of him. David loved the Lord and was always willing to be the hands and feet of Christ – helping others regardless of his own circumstances. As he made his way through life, facing his struggles and battling his demons, he was ever respectful, ever kind, ever sincere and ever compassionate.
He loved cooking and held various positions over the years doing such. David always enjoyed his fishing trips and four-wheeler rides with his brother, Jesse.
