Obituaries

Esther Gail Wilmoth Dyer, 85 years old, passed away February 28, 2020 while a resident of Cardinal Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

She was born October 14, 1934 in Clarksburg WV, the daughter of the late Alston and Bessie Wilmoth.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edmond Dyer, her parents; one infant sister Rena Pearl; one sister Bonna Bell See; one infant brother Richard Ray; and two brothers, Melvin (Doc) Wilmoth and Thomas Wilmoth.

Esther graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School and went on to graduate from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a B.A. degree in Christian Education, and then attended Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received her Master of Arts Degree. She was a devout Christian and long-standing member of The First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon where she was a Diaconal Minister and held numerous positions throughout the years.

Esther retired from West Virginia Wesleyan College as Assistant Professor of Christian Education and Director of Child Development Centers in Upshur County. Though she had no children of her own, she dedicated her life to children through her teaching and involvement with the Child Development Center kindergarten. Esther was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star-Queen Esther Chapter 11, Kappa Phi Club, American Association of University Professors, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and numerous other professional organizations.

She is survived by a stepdaughter Linda Sue Dyer Schneider and husband Greg; a stepson Gary Dyer and wife Candy; nieces and nephews, Nina See Quick, Columbus Georgia, Melva Lyn Neal of Laurel Delaware, Mike See and wife Joan, of Centerpoint, Alabama, Mark Wilmoth and wife Mary Ann of Maiden, North Carolina, Terry Wilmoth, deceased, and wife Trudy of Richmond Virginia and Daniel See and wife Cindy of Stafford Virginia.

A private Interment service was held at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Quiet Dell, West Virginia, conducted by Amos Carvelli Funeral Home. A memorial service of Celebration and remembrance will be at a later date.
