Jack L. Watson, 76, of Clarksburg, WV, went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility, where he has been a resident since February 2016.
Jack was born in Odessa, Texas on May 15, 1944, a son of the late Charles and Ruth Lowther Watson of Lost Creek, WV.

He was married to his loving wife, Deborah Alessio Watson on October 16, 1989, who resides in their home in Clarksburg, WV.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by his son, Justin Michael Watson and fiancé Erin of Lore, OH; his brother James Watson and wife Judy of Ocean Isle, NC, brother-in-law, John Alessio and wife Lee; of Shinnston, WV; nieces and nephews, Tammy Williamson and husband T.J. of Huntington, WV, Mary Alessio Sendecky and husband Stephan of Bridgeport, WV, and John Alessio II of Bridgeport, WV; and great niece, Isabella Williamson. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins who were all very special to him.

Jack was a graduate of Lost Creek High School, Class of 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a helicopter gunner. Upon his return home after his service in Vietnam, he chose to become a barber and attended and graduated from New York Barber Academy.

He was the owner and operator of Headquarters Family Hair Salon in Nutter Fort, WV, until his diagnosis of vascular dementia forced his retirement in November 2014. Upon his retirement he entrusted his business to his working family who he loved dearly, “Bo” Oliverio, Teresa Weaver, and Frances Stiles. Teresa and Frances retired in May, 2019 and we proudly welcomed Karen Gibson Folio to our staff.
He entered the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV on February 2016 and his wife, Deborah Alessio Watson, retired from the Harrison County Accessor’s Office, who devoted everyday to caring for the “love of her life”.

Mr. Watson was a member of the Lost Creek United Methodist Church and a past member of the BPO Elks (former Clarksburg Lodge #482). He led a very active life enjoying NASCAR, boating at Tygart Lake for many years, fishing, deer hunting, and riding motorcycles with his wife and many friends. Greatest of all Jack will be remembered as a happy man who loved life, who never met a stranger, and had a laugh that was contagious. He will be deeply missed by many.

There will be no public viewing, and per his request, Jack will be cremated.

There will be a private graveside service held at the West Virginia National Cemetery with Reverend Kenny Kendall presiding.
