Friends will be received at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.     Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 117 Second Street, Clarksburg, WV on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Greg Godwin presiding. Mrs. Colombo will lie in state one hour prior to the service.     Interment will follow in Flora Hills Memorial Gardens.

Lille Mae Rittenhouse Colombo passed away peacefully on September 2, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. Her family was by her side.

 

 

Lilllie Mae was born December 4, 1918, in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Wade and Emma (Holbert) Rittenhouse.

 

 

Mrs. Colombo was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frank Colombo, on April 29, 2003, as well as by three brothers: Clay C. Rittenhouse who resided in Los Angeles, California, Howard D. Rittenhouse who resided in San Francisco, California, and Jay K. Rittenhouse, who resided in Weston, WV. She was also preceded in death by many brothers-in law and sisters-in-law.

 

 

She is survived by her children, Betsy Ann Kuhl and husband Edward Kuhl, of St. Augustine, FL, Craig C. Colombo and wife JoEllen, of Mechanicsville, VA, and grandchildren Rachel Ann Kuhl, Sarah Jo Colombo, Emily Christine Colombo, David Kelch, and wife Emily, and Matthew Kelch, as well as great-grandchildren Liam, Gabrielle, Edith, Cana and Jonas Kelch. Also surviving Mrs. Colombo are sister-in-law Josephine Quinn and brother-in-law Rudy Colombo, both of Clarksburg as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

 

Mrs. Colombo graduated from Weston High School in 1937. She was an Administrative Secretary to thirteen plant managers of the Carbon Products Division of Union Carbide Corporation for over 41 years.

 

 

During World War II she served as a Yeoman with the U.S. Navy (WAVES). After training at Cedar Falls, Iowa State Teachers College, she was assigned to be Secretary to Commander John A. Ball in the Naval Department in Washington, D.C.

 

 

After retirement, Mrs. Colombo was secretary to the American Heart Association and worked several years as a volunteer in the Central Registration Department of the United Hospital.

 

 

She was an active member of the First United Methodist church for over 65 years: a former member of the choir, United Methodist Women, a former member of the board and more recently a member of the Homebound Communion Team. She held membership in the Stealey Terrace Garden Club, the Sunny Croft Bridge Club, and the Clarksburg Woman’s Club.
