Nola Oliverio Tarantino, 101, of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018 at the home of her daughter Rebecca with family by her side.

Born in Chiefton, WV on February 18, 1917, Nola was the daughter of the late Luige and Victoria Romano Oliverio. Mrs. Tarantino is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Nola married Joseph Tarantino, the love of her life on June 15, 1946, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2016, after more than 70 years of marriage.

She is also survived by her six children: Mary Jo (Frank) Roman, Victoria Tarantino, Monica (Richard) Adams, Nola (James) Gaston, Joseph J. (Jill) Tarantino and Rebecca (David) D’Annunzio. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Domenica (James) Mastroianni, Lucia and Vincenzio; Mario Roman and Carl Grauer; Nathaniel (Heather) Tarantino, Andrew and Anamarie; Benjamin Tarantino; Brendan (Jessica) Adams, Gianna and Anthony; Alyssa (Samuel) D’Annunzio, Nicolina, Samuel and Vincent; Patrick Gaston; Bernadette (Jeffrey) Futrell; Joseph J. Tarantino, II; Anna (Justin) Ellis, Luke; and Adam Tarantino.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Lugre Oliverio Perri and Katherine Oliverio Patti and her brother Lewis Oliver.

After graduation from Victory High School in 1935, Nola began working as a clerk at G.C. Murphy Co. for several years. Working alongside Ulysses Buffington, at Sayer Studio she continued and enjoyed that until the birth of her first child. Mrs. Tarantino was a homemaker for most of her life but also enjoyed assisting her husband as the bookkeeper for Tarantinos’ Adamston Dairy King as well as a local laundry mat and dry cleaners. These businesses were all owned by her husband and his brother, John Tarantino. Her work experiences allowed Mrs. Tarantino to teach all of her children many life lessons.

Mrs. Tarantino’s civic involvements included Adamston Grade School PTA Volunteer, Homemaker’s Club, St. John’s Catholic Family Movement Group and Poll Clerk for city and county elections for 45 years. During her time as a PTA Volunteer, she photographed each class in the spring for her three oldest children. She truly enjoyed being the mother of six children.
As a devout Roman Catholic, Mrs. Tarantino spent time daily praying the rosary and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm where a Prayer Service will be held at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 am with Father Casey Mahone as Celebrant. Entombment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
