Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. C. Michael Hopkins and Reverend Dr. Sean Wegener officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Weston, WV.

Opal Carroll Losh, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from age related ailments at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Benson, North Carolina.

Mrs. Losh was born Opal Eleanor Westfall on June 23, 1929 in Lewis County, West Viginia, the daughter of the late Paul Westfall and Mona Koon Westfall, and granddaughter of the late Seymour W. and Sallie B. Westfall. She was predeceased by one sister, Hazel Westfall, her Aunt Freda Westfall Posey, with whom she was especially close, and 6 uncles, Hayward, Lacy, Asa, Normal, Glenn, and Opha Westfall.

Also predeceasing her was her husband, George Richmond Carroll, with whom she was married for 37 years until his death in 1987. She was then married to Samuel J. Losh until his death in 2007.

Opal Carroll Losh is survived by her son, Stephen Paul Carroll and his wife, Gale Carroll, of Benson, NC, and her daughter, Jeannie Marie Miller and her husband, Stephen Miller, of Annandale, Virginia. She was further blessed by five grandchildren, Jaclyn Carroll Tyner and her husband Wade Tyner of Benson NC; Kristen Turner and her husband Danny Turner of Clarksburg, WV; Lindsay Miller Page and her husband, Andrew Page of Alexandria, VA; Logan Miller and his fiancé Sarah Parker of London, England; and Lance Miller and Julianne Petsche of Alexandria, VA; 12 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Oliver, Laylah, Caroline, Violet, James, Elizabeth, and Samantha Tyner of Benson, NC; Adelyn, Taylor, Danny, and Kylee Turner of Clarksburg, WV; and one step great granddaughter, Caroline Page of Alexandria, VA.

Mrs. Losh lived most of her life in Weston, WV and later at 244 Ocala Street, Clarksburg, WV. She retired from Hope Gas Company July 1, 1991, after 22 years of working at the Weston City Plant. Mrs. Losh was a long-time member of Weston First Baptist Church and more recently, Simpson Creek Baptist Church. The last days and weeks of her life were with anticipation of seeing her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. She had wonderful neighbors whom she loved dearly near her home on Ocala Street. After a long life with family and devotion to her Lord, she is now home, and we celebrate her life.
