Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Rebecca Lafferty and Reverend John Langenstein presiding. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

Carolyn Virginia Ramsey Sirk, 84, of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the United Hospital Center, following a brief illness.

She was born in Fairmont, WV on April 12, 1940, a daughter of the late James and Marguerite Scott Ramsey and the niece of the late Matthew and Virginia Martin.

She spent her childhood in Baltimore, Maryland and Beverly, West Virginia. She then lived in Fairmont, West Virginia with her Aunt Gin and Uncle Mutsy Martin and graduated from West Fairmont High School in 1958.

She worked at the Clarksburg Harrison Public Library for 25 years. During her retirement she volunteered at The Open Door, and as a Foster Grand Parent at a local Christian School and the summer Energy Express program.

Her favorite hobby was pencil drawing and painting portraits of birds, ships, and scenery. She loved swimming, traveling around West Virginia, and visiting the beach. She loved being outdoors where she spent time feeding the birds and photographing them and other pictures of nature. She enjoyed caring for and playing with her therapy cats Simba and Buddy who will miss her terribly.

She was a member of North View United Methodist Church and enjoyed being part of the church choir. She held Bible studies with her small housing community.

She loved her grandchildren and attended many of their sporting events, church plays, band concerts graduations, etc.

She is survived by her daughters Deborah Ann Mayer and her husband Mark, Sandra Lynn Lutz and her husband John, and Janet Leah Shanholtz and her husband Richard; and her grandchildren, Shawn Brown and his wife Camilleia, Michael Davis, Patrick Mayer, Jeffery Mayer and his wife Bobbie Jo, Adam Lutz and his wife Landy, Alex Lutz and his wife Marissa, Nicholas Lutz and his fiancé Ali, Grace Lutz, Lily Lutz, Rex Matthew Prieto and his companion Ashley, Emily Davis and her husband Kenny, and Alyssa Shanholtz; Great grandchildren, Gabrielle Brown and her fiancé Noah, Felix Kelley-Prieto, Theodore Rex Lutz, Arya Lynn Brown, Brooklyn, Owen, and Molly Mayer; great-great granddaughter, Noelle Grace Bumgardner; her siblings Myrtle Maund, Joyce White, Patty Kovatch, James Ramsey, David Ramsey.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents James and Margarite Ramsey, her Uncle Matthew (Mutsy) and Aunt Virginia (Gin) Martin, Sisters Ruth Litchfield, Virginia Smith, Mildred Ramsey and her grandson Scott Mayer.
