Everytime for 30 years that I called his company be it my antique cars or an everyday driver, he was there to help. I genuinely thought he was tops.

Family: I share your grief. Dan was a wonderful person. He was stubborn, ornery, and had a penchant for helping complete strangers in any way possible. He hated doing long AAA runs, but tried his best to get to everyone in a timely manner. He was bribe-able with cookies and we always came through for him. I loved him dearly and will miss him so much. I haven't been able to stop by to see him in some time due to health issues, but he is always in my heart. Stay strong and love each other; that would be his greatest wish.

I’ve known Dan for many years, a very nice person that was fair and kind to everyone. The news of his passing shocked and saddened me. Dan is always the one I would call when I needed a tow, or even once when I locked my keys in the truck. I always referred others to him if they were in need of being towed. He always came or sent another driver, never making me wait very long. To his family, I’m so sorry for your loss, I’m sure there will be times that seemingly the day just drags by without him, but remember he will still live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren and siblings. Dan was a good person and hopefully the good times he shared with you and others will keep a smile in your heart.

I did not know Mr. Thompson, but I when I met him, he made a lasting impression. An elderly couple broke down about a mile from his shop. I stopped to help them but realizing I couldn’t, I drove to Dan’s to pay for their tow. Well, that was my intention. However, Dan would have nothing to do with that. He did not know me or the couple, but he insisted he would take care of them. He wouldn’t even accept a donation. I have never forgotten that gesture. Truly a compassionate man who seized the opportunity to do good for others. Our community will surely miss such a man. Prayers for your family… Sincerely, Angie Carvelli

Dan was an example of how God would want us all to live our life’s. I pray his legacy will be for all who knew him to treat others with the same kindness and respect he has always shown you. I have witnessed Dan give so much of himself to others, including myself. One time I told him we were doing a car wash at our church. The next day, here he comes with all the supplies we would need. He was always spoiling me and girls I work with, with ice cream. And we had a running joke that every time we would mess up or forget to give him something, he’d call us up and say “I’m going to bring you an application for McDonald’s. One time he messed up and we called him and told him we were going to bring Him an application from McDonald’s. He just laughed. I will miss seeing him so much, but I know he had a personal relationship with Jesus and that he is now in Heaven with no more sorrow and no more pain. I can just see him standing at the feet of Jesus and Jesus telling him…”Well done good and faithful servant!”

Dan was a friend who would come to our rescue, even if it was just locking my keys in my truck at the church. He will be missed by all of us at Christ Church, and all those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered and missed !
