Family and Friends are invited to honor his life through visitation on Friday June 16, 2023, at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am with Pastor Peggy Williams officiating where full military honors will be accorded at commencement of the service. Interment will be in the WV National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 20, 2022 at 11:00 am.

Tronia “Tony” Michele Shade, dedicated service man, beloved family man, and respected community member passed away at his home on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

He was born November 23, 1952, in Morgantown, WV, the son of the late Irene Miller and James Darnell Shade.

Beyond his military achievements, Tony touched the lives of those around him with his warm and loving nature and knew no strangers.

Tony was preceded in death by his loving parents, his special aunt Ora Miller-Foster, his brother Arthur “James” Shade, and sister Eva Lee Shade.

He is survived by his brothers, Daniel Shade-Nichols, Edward “Pete” Shade, and Willie James “Junie” Riley, and sister, Cathy Jennings; his children, Jennifer Shade, Natasha (Claes) Olsson , Damia Dobbs, and Tony (Kelly) Shade; his grandchildren, Jayla, Kaleigha, DaRius, Mekhi, Ahven, Sebastian, and Toryn; his great-grandson, Imri; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and close cousins who meant the world to him.

Tony loved reading, “his westerns”, playing, watching and coaching basketball, playing chess and cheering on his beloved Steelers and Mountaineers. Over the years Tony worked for Head start, Hope/Equitable Gas, and at the Clarksburg VA Hospital until retirement. After his retirement Tony filled his days taking orders from his youngest granddaughter, Toryn which just so happened to be his favorite job.

All are welcomed to join the family at Sabra United Methodist Church, 1234 Richwood Ave., Morgantown, WV for a repast immediately following the service.
