Per his request he will be cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April, 11, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Greg Goodwin presiding. Inurnment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.

Alexander Lynch “Alex” Atkinson, 24, of Morgantown, WV passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019.
He was born in Fairmont, WV on September 14, 1994 a son of Jeffrey Atkinson of Fairmont and Susan Lynch Sigman and Greg Sigman of Blacksburg, VA.
Along with his parents, he is survived by one sister, Bonnie Wood and husband Jackson of ElPaso, TX; one nephew, Jackson Wood; paternal grandmothers, JoAnn Coyle of Kettering, OH and Kay Atkinson of Bridgeport andmaternal step grandmother, Pam Lynch of Richmond, VA . Also surviving are uncles, James Atkinson and companion Marla Young, Michael Atkinson and wife Jenny, Pete Lynch and wife Teresa, Steve Carnohan and wife Karen and Scott Carnohan; aunts, Jamie Hamrick and husband John, Bali Atkinson, Annie Lynch and Melissa Atkinson and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Atkinson; paternal grandfather, James
Atkinson; maternal grandparents, Daniel and Martha Lynch and one uncle, John Atkinson.
Alex was a graduate of Bridgeport High School Class of 2013 and a senior at West Virginia University majoring in Geology. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg. He loved all sports from a young age and started playing soccer on the Parks and Recreation teams and continued playing soccer for Bridgeport High School. He was on the Clarksburg Country Club and Bridgeport City swim teams.
