Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mr. Richards will be taken to the Upper Room Church, 320 S. 24th Street, Clarksburg (Adamston) to lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service which will be held on 11:00 am on Friday, April 26, 2024 with Pastor Michael Flanary officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Junior Marion Richards, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Mr. Richards was born on February 18, 1939, and was a lifelong resident of West Virginia, but passed away peacefully in his sleep in San Antonio, TX, where he had moved to live with his daughter and son-in-law.

He was the husband of the late Gail Colleen Ryan Richards, and son of the late Joseph and Mildred Cottrill Richards.

Junior is survived by his son, Joel “JP” (Chris) Richards of Weston; Suzanne “Suzie” (Kevin) Robinson of San Antonio, TX; Joretta Hayhurst (Dan Brown) of Rapid River, MI; daughter-in-law Tammy Richards of Clarksburg; and son-in-law Mark Hines of Weston as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Roger, Leroy (Marcia), Steve (Debbie), Terry, and Mike (Jeannie) Richards; sisters Virginia Cutlip; Dolores (Paul) Christy; Linda Lees; Cathy (Earl) DeHart; brother-in-law James “Jr” (Paula) Harbert; sisters-in-law Karen and Janice Richards, and Norma Ryan. In addition to his wife and parents,

Junior was preceded in death by his son, Marion Keith Richards; daughter, Erin Colleen Hines; grandson Trey Hayhurst; brothers Virgil, John, and Paul Richards; brother-in-law Joel Ryan; and sisters-in-law Yolanda and Martha “Marty” Richards.

Junior was a mechanic by trade and worked for the Harrison County Board of Education for 26 years, retiring in 1996. During his lifetime, he owned and operated a Sinclair Oil Service Station and worked for Tom’s Peanuts, Wilson Bakery, West Virginia State Road, The Workingman’s Store, Anderson Blacktop, G.C. Murphy Department Store, and he drove a taxi. Junior accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age, and faithfully attended church all his life. He was a member of the Adamston Church of God, later the Upper Room Church, where he served as the sound and video technician. He also attended Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX. Junior attended Roosevelt-Wilson High School and later earned his General Education Degree (GED). He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, gardening with his wife, playing guitar, singing, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, papaw, great-papaw, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
