Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Richard Settles presiding. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Thelma “Tillie” Cottrill Barker, 97, of Mill Creek, WV, passed away in the afternoon on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Nella’s at Autumn Lake Healthcare Center in Elkins, WV.

Mrs. Barker was born on January 28, 1927, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Richards Cottrill.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Mr. Eugene “Gene” Barker, who resides at Nella’s at Autumn Lake Healthcare Center in Elkins, WV. They were wed on February 28, 1951.

Also surviving is her daughter, Sarah Garrett of Mill Creek and her partner Richard Leidy; two grandchildren, Josh Scheuvront and his wife Patricia of Salem and Danielle Scheuvront and her husband John Harrison of Clarksburg; five great-grandchildren, Mickael McNemar, Robert McNemar, Aidan Harrison, Landen Scheuvront and Corbin Scheuvront; sister, Betty Feldt of OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Kay Scheuvront; and siblings, Junior, Ed, Martha, Lou, Gay, Shirley, Mildred and Jenny.

Tillie was Christian by faith. She dedicated her time to her family and happily took care of them and their home. She loved to sew and made clothes for her kids and their doll babies. She had a special place in her heart for children. She also cared for the elderly. She got a thrill from playing the lottery and liked to purchase lottery tickets.
