July 25, 1925 - February 27, 2016

Family and friends will be received at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday from 2-8 PM.  A Wake Service will begin at 7:30 PM to conclude visitation.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 610 Pike Street, Shinnston with Reverend Thomas W. Dagle as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.  A Service of Amos Carvelli Funeral Home.

Alexander “Alex” Anthony Talerico departed this life Saturday, February 27th, 2016 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport following an extended illness.  He was born July 25, 1925 in Hepzibah, a son of the late Salvatore “Sam” Talerico and Givanni Cava Talerico.  His wife of 60 years, Altha Powell Talerico, resides at their home in Hepzibah.

 

Also surviving are his daughter, Saundra Spatafore and her husband Tony Jr. of Bridgeport.  His beloved grandchildren, Matthew James Spatafore and his wife Jessica, and Emily Ann Heise and her husband Caleb.  Four great grandchildren, Matteo James and Nico Alexander Spatafore, Addison Kathleen Heise, and one arriving in the spring.

 

In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by seven siblings, Louie, Frank, and Sammy Talerico, Annette Delise, Amelia “Milly” Perri, Mary DeMastus, and Rose Walli, as well as one great granddaughter, Hailey Marie Heise.

 

Alex as he was fondly referred to was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Factory, having worked in Stonewood until its closing, and then one year in Creighton, Pennsylvania.  He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Shinnston, and the Spelter Senior Citizens.  He loved woodworking as a hobby, having made many items for his family including grandfather and grandmother clocks, as well as gun cabinets.  He was very proud to have been born and raised in Hepzibah, having lived his whole life there.  Above all, he lived for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
