Per the family’s request, cremation services were held.  A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church Clarksburg, 117 N. 2nd Street, Clarksburg with Reverend Greg Godwin presiding.  Inurnment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

Daniel James Atkinson, age 20, of Bridgeport, departed this life Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in Morgantown, WV.  He was born January 20, 1998 in Fairmont, WV the son of Jeffrey Atkinson of Fairmont, and Susan Lynch Sigman and her husband Greg of Blacksburg, VA.

 

In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by his brother, Alex Atkinson of Morgantown; his sister, Bonnie Wood and her husband Jackson of El Paso, Texas as well as one nephew Jackson Wood.  Paternal grandparents Joann Coyle of Kettering, Ohio; step grandmother Kay Atkinson of Bridgeport; maternal step-grandmother Pam Lynch of Richmond, VA.  His aunts and uncles, Jamie and John Hamrick, Jimmy Atkinson and his companion Marla Young, Michael and Jenny Atkinson, Melissa Atkinson, Bali Atkinson, Pete and Teresa Lynch, and Anna Lynch along with several cousins.

 

Daniel was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather James Atkinson, and maternal grandparents Daniel and Martha Lynch; and his uncle John Atkinson.

 

Daniel was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 2016.  Daniel was working as a cook at Homegrown Pizza in Morgantown.  He loved his job as cooking was a passion of his.  From an early age, he loved working with his hands, especially playing or building with Legos.  He took great pride in whatever he worked on and his accomplishments.  He was a joy to be with and will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike.
