Obituaries

Dewain Edward Hayes, 77, of Clarksburg Passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

He was born in Clarksburg on July 28, 1946, a son of the late Claude and Marguerite Harris Hayes.

Surviving are three children, Pamela Shriver and her husband Darrin of Clarksburg, Dewain Edward “DJ” Hayes, Jr. of Clarksburg and Tina Swiger and her husband Steven of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Cameron Swiger, Cole Swiger, Samantha (Andrew) Tucker and Lenzie (Jonathan) Powell; two great grandchildren, Lincoln and Alaina Powell; four siblings, Deborah McCune and her husband Darrell of Salem and their children, Sara Sinclair Shingleton and husband Dennis, and Dustin McCune and wife Carrie, Claudia Mano and her husband Larry Joe of Mt. Clare, Carolyn Chumley of Bridgeport and Dalin Hayes and his wife Rainey of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Edwin Chumley.

Mr. Hayes was a 1964 graduate of Bristol High School and was in the Landscaping business. He loved coaching Salem Little League for many years and was a member of the Salem Church of God.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 10:30 am with Reverend Dustin McCune officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
