Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Father Benedict Kapa officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Franklin Daniel “Danny” Hamrick, Jr., 59, of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his residence.

 

He was born in Clarksburg on July 4, 1958, a son of Franklin D. Hamrick, Sr., and Nellie Seamon Hamrick of Shinnston.

 

He is survived by his wife, Julie Ann Moneypenny Hamrick, whom he married March 8, 1980; one son, Dustin Daniel “Dusty” Hamrick and his wife Theresa of Clarksburg; one daughter, Aleta Brosius and her husband Tom of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Annastacia Riffle and Kylie Riffle; one brother, Steve Hamrick and his wife Lesa of Shinnston; his mother-in-law, Mildred “Midge” Moneypenny of Quiet Dell; four sisters-in-law, Sheila Horsefield and her husband Larry of Indiana, Debbie Moneypenny of Clarksburg, Deana Leonard and her husband Mike of Quiet Dell; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim Moneypenny.

 

He was a 1976 graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School and the co-owner of Mountaineer Hydraulics.

 

Danny was a well-known late model dirt car racer driving car #55. He started out in Demolotion Derbies, to Enduro Cars, finishing up with stock cars to late model. He was Track Champion at Interstate Raceway and Elkins Raceway, along with having won may other championships and awards. He was Catholic by faith.
