Carol Ann Johnson, 72, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was born in Zanesville, OH on June 14, 1945, a daughter of the late Richard Gerald Johnson and Elizabeth Eunice Hutcheson Johnson Rice.

Carol Ann was a graduate of Lexington High School in Lexington Ohio and the Mansfield Business College. She worked at the Galion Community Hospital with 4 ½ years of service, before working at the Franklin County Welfare Department as a file clerk for 32 years. Carol was a 40 year resident of Columbus, Ohio, having moved to Clarksburg to be close to her sister due to health problems.
Well known on the west side of Columbus, Carol frequented Tommy’s Diner daily and continued her relationship with the waitresses. Carol Ann was a great resource for many, putting people in touch with programs that could assist in making their life better. She worked tirelessly in assisting Senior Citizens and people in need for many years though her work at the State of Ohio Department of Welfare. She was very instrumental in the success of the first area grocery delivery program with the Kroger Co. in the late 1980’s, working as a liaison between the State of Ohio and Kroger to bring grocery delivery to shut-ins within the Columbus, OH area. Carol Ann remained an advocate for Senior Citizens even after her retirement in 1995, and to date still remained a “friend” to the Kroger Customer Relations group in Columbus. By assembling a list of grocery stores willing to deliver in-home, she was awarded a commendation by the Franklin County Commission.

Carol Ann utilized public transportation extensively and was a great supporter and advocate of public transportation. She was active in many charities, such as the Red Cross and local thrift stores.
