Mrs Marquess, has to be perhaps one of the most notable and best teachers I have ever had. Little did I know at the time how much of an impression she made in my life. I haven't live in Clarksburg since 1971, but I never forgot her. She had a way and mannerism with students that made you want to learn. I thank God I had her to help guide my life.

(Mom has an angel pin on her lapel.) Mom : always my hero and strength... Joanne Vaughn, yes, that was my mother. Homestead School was her first teaching assignment after graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Thank you for sharing that information.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I wondered if I might ask you if she ever taught at the Homestead School in Dailey, WV.? I have a newspaper clipping from the Elkins paper in my scrap book (I will have to look for it) of a lovely blonde teacher named Mary Louise Coberly who was just engaged. That would have been in the late 40's or early 50's. She was not there long but was very loved. She taught English. If so, I would be glad to look for it and send it, if you don't have it. I am 83 now and doubt if it will be meaningful to my children and it may be to you. Thank you. Joanne Dougherty Vaughan

My sympathy and condolence’s to the Marquess family in the passing of your mother. Your parents were, without a doubt, members of the greatest generation. Her kindness, generosity, wit, wisdom and candor will be dearly missed. I feel fortunate to have been able to share a small part of her life.

Barbara and Marsha, Please accept my condolences and prayers for your mother. I did not have much contact with you while growing up in Nutter Fort but my Uncle Orval and Aunt JoAnn Winters always spoke very highly of your parents and your family. My Uncle Orval worked at Union National Bank while I believe that your father had worked at Lowndes Bank. My Aunt Joanne taught at Victory High School for many years while your mother taught at Gore Junior High School (I believe that is what Aunt Joanne had told me). Both my Uncle Orval and Aunt Joanne were very active in the Methodist Church in downtown Clarksburg also. There is a small plaque on the church wall in memory of my Uncle Orval for his service over the years. Marsha, you were ahead of me two years and Barbara, you were ahead of me one year at Roosevelt Wilson. I always thought that both of you were two of the classiest women during my time in high school. Marsha, I see that you now live in Julian, North Carolina. I lived in Durham, North Carolina from the 1990’s and early 2000’s while working on many construction projects for the pharmaceutical plants and data centers in the Research Triangle Park area. May God bless your mother and provide you comfort at this time. Steven Winters cell 614-205-7626

Extending my sincerest condolences in the loss of your lovely mother. She & our father, Otha D Pfau Jr \"June\" were 1st cousins. Daddy was quite fond of her & enjoyed their time growing up together with other cousins. I had the pleasure to meet her (I believe) after my grandma Mabel\'s funeral @ dinner at their church Feb 99. I just happened upon her obituary researching family history last night. Family usually calls me Janie but I\'m on Facebook as Jane Pfau Bluefield WV if any of you are interested in staying in touch. My brother, Andy and I will be praying for you all.
