Walter Lee Davis, 85, of Stonewood, WV, passed away at his home on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his family.
A son of the late Harold and Veronica “Bonnie” McDonald Davis, Walter was born in Monongah, on August 11, 1940.
He married the love of his life, Donna Jean Dodd Davis, on December 29, 1982. They spent a wonderful 43 years together. She survives at their home in Stonewood.
Mr. Davis is also survived by four children, Denise Baker of Fairmont, Lori Davis and of Ocala, FL, Melinda Davis of Fairmont, and Heather Doukas and husband Nicholas of Pottstown, PA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Daniel Davis and wife Wendy of Adamsville, Joann Thompson of Fairmont, and Brenda Vincent of Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis is preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, James, Charles and Allen Davis; and two sisters, Margaret McClung, and Barbara Jean Davis.
Walter was a truck driver by trade. Spending more than 50 years in the industry, he worked for Owings Illinois, D&W Truck Lines, American Standard, and Obyle Tank Lines, and retired as a self-employed driver.
Mr. Davis was Methodist by faith, and a member of Lost Creek United Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Davis, Walter’s doctor for 28 years, for his care and kindness, and the nurses and staff with WVU Medicine Hospice.
Following Walter’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held.
