Rest in Peace Father Cann. I'm sure the angels were singing your praises as you entered the gates of Heaven. I met Fr. Cann when I worked at the Chancery many many years ago and kept in touch over the years. He was so kind and thoughtful. When my husband , Ray, passed in 2010, he was there at St. Michael Church for the service. Ray's brother, Bishop Bernard Schmitt, along with many of the priests of the diocese, were there for the service. Fr. Cann's presence and words of support were very much appreciated at a very sad time in my life. Fr. Cann, you will be missed.

Fr Cann co-officiated my wedding in 1982. My wife & I met with him several times prior our wedding date as he helped us work thru our differences and find common ground. He was a Godsend to us. We had 48 people in the wedding party and he was awesome. He was very close to my entire family, marrying two other siblings, giving a message at my dads funeral just being at numerous family events. He was a very special man and I’m grateful to have had him as a close family friend.

Sorry to learn of the death of Father Cann. I will always remember him for being a strong advocate for various social justice issues. I believe he was on the Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission for a number of years. I never liked being on the opposite side on a social justice topic with him--he always was so well versed on so many social justice and Church issues and was a great debater. I believed he also served on the Central Regional Board of Directors for Catholic Community Services for a period of time In the early 1980\'s (when Catholic Charities--then Catholic Community Services-- had very few resources), he allowed us to hold our quarterly Governing Board meetings at the old All Saints school building. He was always very kind and welcoming to us--when some at times had their reservations about us at that time

Jimmy & Family: So sorry to read of the death of Rev. Father Hilario n Cann. He was such a remarkable, knowledgeable, and faithful servant of God. As others have told me, he served the Church in West Virginia with caring and distinction. Such a wonderful life of helping all. Phil Prichard

Fr. Larry was and always has been and inspiration for me and my family. When he became pastor of All Saints my mom (the late Rita Wolfkill) was the first church secretary for Fr. Larry and herself battling cancer, For a young man in high school in 1980/81 he was the steady presence of the Sprit of God in the lives of my Dad (Truman), my mom (Rita) and myself. He was there for my Dad after my mother died in Sep 81 and had always remained a steadfast beacon of Christ's light in the lives of our family. He witnessed the marriage of my Dad to my step-mother Susan in 1982, baptized our daughter Jessica in 1987, helped us through the difficulty of my military deployments (1985-85 and 1990-91), With many fond memories, blessings and love, Tim and Lynn Wolfkill "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matt 25:23)
