Tony, and the entire Lockett family...I am so sorry and heartbroken on Sammy’s passing! Tony I tried to get your cell from Mark H when I heard back in January. In reading messages that have been left, all of us that went to school together may not see each other as often as we once did but we will forever be family/friends?? Sammy touched a lot of souls....He will never be forgotten!

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sammy. I reflect back when Monticello playground was the place to be. Watching the Lockett brothers (Sammy and Fire) show off their basketball skills, and then take a break to push us as fast as the could on the merry-go-round. Sammy all always had a smile for whoever he met. RIP Sammy.

Dear Lockett, I’m deeply sorry for your loss. The death of a loved one is never easy to cope with. You can find encouragement in the Bible at Revelation 21:3,4. That reads: “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. “ Corey B. Davis

Wow! So, so saddened to hear of Sammy’s passing. We were all childhood friends from “The Avenue”. Know the entire family very well. To be absent from this world, is to be present with the Lord. My deepest sympathy to Pam, Fire, Tina and Tyrone. Look to the hill from where your strength cometh. I will be thinking of you guys and praying for your family during this very difficult time. Oh Sammy - so many wonderful memories with such a genuine, special person! Sammy and I went to school together beginning at Towers Elementary when my family moved here when I was 8. Clear throughout Towers, Central Jr. High and especially WI High School, we shared lots of laughs and fun. In high school we were lucky as we spent a lot of time in sports and even got to practice and go to meets in Track and Field together since boys and girls comprised a team. When he and I were voted Most Athletic Senior Favorites, we laughed and laughed as we were trying to get a picture of us with me holding him in my arms as though he’d fallen from the sky! (We were emulating super-heroes!) For those of you who knew Sammy, that kid was solid muscle and I struggled to hold him up! After many takes, we finally got the shot! Not to long ago, I was on Main Street and recognized Sammy - still the same Sammy! We hugged and had such a great conversation. I was looking forward to more ... Rest In Peace my friend.

OMG is all I thought when I saw Sammy had passed, I played football and ran track (sprints) with Sammy. I was so proud to call Sammy my friend. We enjoyed so many wonderful days together as high school athelets. What a kind hearted man he was...Will forever remember our trips to state meets. May the lord take you into his kingdom and hand you the baton of everlasting love and happiness.....

I played various sports with Sammy in high school. We ran track together and I remember one summer when I was competing in the regional AAU Junior Olympics on a 4 x 100 relay team. One of my teammates was injured and unable to compete, so I found Sammy at the meet and he jumped in and ran with us. He was a humble and soft spoken man that was kind to everyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to my good friend, Tony, and the rest of the Lockett family.

I knew Sammy from Jr thru High School and other classmates are right his smile was infectious. Funny how all of us have that one thing we remember about others. I was truly shocked to hear of your loss. May the loving arms of God surround your family through this time. Prayers for the family .

I'm so shocked and saddened to hear that Sammy passed. I knew him through several mutual friends, fantasy football, and I played football with his brother, Tyrone. Sammy was also a great, fellow Yankees fan and he would sometimes join a bunch of us in our annual November birthdays bash. My condolences to the Lockett family. A good man will be greatly missed.

I was so very saddened to hear of Sammy's passing. Sammy and I first met as kids at Towers Elementary School - he always had a beautiful smile on his face and was always kind and friendly to everyone. We continued to be friends through high school - where he continued his kindness and broad smile and his ability to bring joy to all who knew him. I last saw him at a WI Reunion many years ago. My heart goes out to his family and friends as I know this is a great loss. May you be comforted in knowing that those of us who knew him - no matter from how long ago - will always remember him and be thankful that we got to share memories with him along life's journey.
