Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 am.   Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, where full military graveside rites will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard.

Billy C. L. Evans, Jr., 80, of Clarksburg entered into glory on Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.

 

He was born in Cleveland, TN on July 31, 1937, the son of the late William C. L. and Anna Louise Ware Evans.

 

He is survived by his wife, Vera Lea Andrews Evans, whom he married on January 25, 1957; two daughters, Karla Louise Kile and her husband Raymond of Wilsonburg, and Kimberly Dawn Merkel of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren, Andrea Kile Stevens of Clarksburg, Brandon and Brittany Merkel of Birmingham, AL, and Jamie Kile Martin of Clarksburg; four great grandchildren, Zachary Merkel, Kaylea Stevens, Logan Stevens and Amelia Merkel; six siblings, Clyde Evans of Georgia, Kirk Evans of Arizona, Cheryl Standley of Oregon, Robert C. Evans of Georgia, Carol Johnson of Georgia; and Jimmy McCaslin of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart.

 

Mr. Evans was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was a milk delivery man, retiring after 37 ½ years from Meadow Gold Dairies. His favorite job, however, was serving as a Sergeant at the Clarksburg Federal Building. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was an expert gardener who could fix or build anything imaginable. He was always generous with his time and talents, giving them freely and often to his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his beloved family. He was an animal lover who adored his little dog, Bo. Mr. Evans was a member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church.
