Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Carmen and his wife Patsy Jo chose to be cremated following the visitation and laid to rest together in the WV National Cemetery at a later date.

Carmen Luigi Oliverio, 87, of Bridgeport passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.

He was born on July 27, 1937, the son of the late Battista and Catherine Lionzante Oliverio.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Patsy Jo “P.J.” Eddy Oliverio on February 27, 2022.

Surviving are one son, Michael Oliverio of California; one daughter, Angela Marie Pinnock of Buckeye, AZ; four stepchildren, Brenda Dierkes of Charleston, Cathy Graham of Lakeland, FL, John David Headley of Sistersville, and Sheila Marie Currie of St. Petersburg, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Joanna and Joe Haught of Largo, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Don Headley; his brothers, Sam Oliverio and wife Betty and his brother, Anthony Oliverio who died in 1943 while serving in the United States Navy in the North Atlantic.

Carmen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a 1955 graduate of Victory High School where he was also a member of the football team from 1953 – 1955. He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. Carmen attended the University of Michigan part time as a management scholar, and also received his degree from Ford Motor Company Management Department in Dearborn, Michigan.

Carmen was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 30 years and was a manufacturing manager at Michigan Casting Center. He also became a private pilot at Westland National Airport in Michigan. During his prior residence at Maple Lake, he was the property supervisor and a state certified wastewater operator. He was also an employee of Mountain State Auto Auction and was employed as a driver for Enterprise Auto Rental. Carmen was also a part time member of the Garden City Police Department in Garden City, Michigan.

He was an avid car collector. He and his wife enjoyed traveling by motorhome and visited 49 states, including Alaska. They also enjoyed cruising to Bermuda, the Caymen Islands, Argentina, Jamica and Puerto Rico.

Carmen would like to thank the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center for providing him with 42 years of excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, Carmen asked that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the Appalachian Wounded Warriors, 625 Point Mountain Rd., Valley Head WV 26294.
