Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Brian Plum presiding.   Per his request, Mr. Stemple will be cremated following the service.

Charles Edward “Sonny” Stemple, 79, of Mt. Clare, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his residence, following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Boothsville, WV, on November 12, 1937, a son of the late Leon Howard and Nellie Cain Stemple.

 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Markley Stemple, whom he married on October 25, 1963.

 

Mr. Stemple is also survived by one son, Timothy W. Stemple of Mt. Clare; two daughters, Deborah D. Childers and husband Tim of Mt. Clare and Belinda K. Hayhurst and husband Ed of Mt. Clare; four grandchildren, Natisha “Southern Belle” Richards and husband Keegan, Hali Yoders and husband Steven, Heather Nutter and husband Nathan, and Jessica Barnett and husband Dave; and two great grandchildren, Jordynn Nutter and Liam Barnett.  Also surviving are four brothers, Leon “Junior” Stemple and wife Peggy of Tampa, FL, Dickie Stemple of Georgia, Leonard Stemple and wife Debbie of Akron, OH, and Michael Stemple of North Carolina; two sisters, Karen Sue Beadleston of Kent, OH and Margaret Belknap and husband Bernard of Ravenna, OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Theresa Stemple, and one brother, Mark Stemple.

 

Sonny was member of the Carpenters Union for 25 years. He was Methodist by faith and attended Mt. Clare United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Mt. Clare Volunteer Fire Department, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all he loved spending time with his family.
