Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. where a service will be held at 3:00 p.m. In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Shearer will be cremated following the service.

Henrietta Louise “Penny” Dinkel Shearer, 82, of Good Hope area, passed away late Thursday night, October 17, 2024, while in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Weston.
Penny was born on February 3, 1942 in Wilmington, DE, a daughter of the late Franklin William and Ida Mae Foskey Dinkel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands: Bobby Woodard, Lee Todd, and James Shearer.
Penny is survived by her son, Bobby Lee Woodard and his wife Zoe of Good Hope area; daughter, Ruby Ann Keller and her husband Darren of Dover, PA; step-son, Daniel Shearer of York, PA; adopted daughter, Missy Myers and her husband Gene of York, PA; six grandchildren, Nathan Woodard and his wife Estie, Kyra Brodwater and her husband Gary, Bobby Adamson and his partner Tori, Lee Keller and his wife Beth, Samantha Copenheaver and her husband Isaiah, and Andy Myers and his wife Courtney; seventeen great-grandchildren; nieces, Lina Mae and Lisa Ann; nephews, Frankie and Billy; and her daughter-in-law’s father, William Bowyer of the Good Hope area.
She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Shirley Marie Urian; brother, Frank Dinkel; and her daughter-in-law’s mother, Doris Ann Bowyer.
Penny spent the majority of her adult life in York, PA and while there worked as the head cook for Margaret Moul Nursing Home for 21 years. She was a volunteer at the York Hospital on the neonatal unit. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxillary, West York Chapter. She loved to visit the beach. She also enjoyed tending to her garden, crocheting, working word puzzle books and watching Gun Smoke and any movie starring John Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Penny’s memory to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV, 26431 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
