Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 3-7 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. with Father Walt Jagela presiding. Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Rd. Shinnston, WV 26431.

James Matthew Ash, 64, of Bridgeport passed away Monday, August 12th 2024 at his residence.
He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. on September 22, 1959, a son of the late James H. and Janet L Messenger Ash.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kelly O’Mara Ash, whom he married on December 6,1986.
Also surviving are two sons, Logan James and Luke Matthew, both of Bridgeport: one brother Jeffrey Ash and his wife Jill of Niceville, FL, and their son Jesse; one sister Jamie Ash; his mother-in-law Joan O’Mara; sisters-in-law, Mary Powers and her husband Jerry and sons Ray Powers and Katie Stoner, Ryan and Sarah Powers; Jennifer Renquest and sons Zachary Renquest and Hunter and Rebecca Renquest; brother-in-law Patrick O’Mara, his wife Sherry and children Trey and Adriane O’Mara; Jenna and Jay Schwartzmiller; Katie and Fraser Brown; and Owen O’Mara and several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companions Rooney and Herbie.
Mr. Ash was a 1977 graduate of Bridgeport Senior High School and was employed in the materials department at MHIRJ Aviation for 30 years.
Matt loved watching sports. He was fortunate to attend many Mountaineer football and basketball games home and away throughout the years with close friends and family. Attending Steeler and Pirate games, along with NCAA Tournament games brought him so much joy.
He was able to coach both his sons in various sports over the years. He coached in the Bridgeport Pop Warner League and Bridgeport Little League. He always felt it was a real privilege to be around some of the finest young men and coaching staffs in this area. Matt always tried to attend as many BHS football and baseball games as possible.
