In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Copass will be cremated Family and friends will gather at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, where services will be held at 4:00 pm.

John Paul Copass, 57 of Lost Creek, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

John was born in Tompkinsville, KY on August 19, 1967 to the late Parrish Copass and Mescal Cunningham. He was also preceded in death by his stepdad Mitchell Cunningham, sister Tina Stephens, mother-in-law Inez Harper, sister-in-law Shayne Harper and son Theodore Harper.

John graduated from Tompkinsville High School and spent four years in the Navy and then went on to build log cabins in Moss, TN where he married his forever love Mary Copass. In 2002 John moved his family to West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife Mary Copass, and by two sons Thomas Harper and Jonas Copass, two grandchildren Rowan Lonie and Scarlett Harper: Sisters Marie (Jerry) Shepherd, Myra (Tim) Hanyzewski and Holly Copass; brothers, Gary (Violet) Copass, Doyle Copass, Chris Cunningham and companion Sharon Muse; his father-in-law Mike (Joyce) Harper, sisters in law; Loretta (Frank) Girdich, and Michelle (Cristy) Foster; brothers in law, Michael (Juanita) Harper and Martin Harper; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was employed by Home Depot in Bridgeport. He enjoyed fishing, history, working on and detailing cars. He loved music especially the oldies and the classics, playing with his grandkids and spending time with family. John will be fondly remembered as a person who did not know any strangers. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. He will be missed but never forgotten.
