Michelle (Micki) Shaffer Waugaman, age 68, passed away peacefully in her sleep following a brief illness in the home of her niece, Janelle Cordova in Greensboro, NC, on February 21, 2024.

Micki was born the youngest of 11, on January 15, 1956, to her mother, the late Frances Fahey Shaffer, and her father, the late Shirley James Shaffer.

Micki was an independent spirit who chose to leave home at an early age to travel and has resided in many states from coast to coast.

She was preceded in death by two of her daughters, Rachelle Aguirre, and Julia Newsome Pritt. Also preceding her in death are five siblings, Mary Lou Borrelli (Joe), Joseph (Martha), S. James (Joyce), Susanna Lancaster (Hal), and Karen Maxwell (Ken).
She is survived by one daughter, Amy Henderson Starnes of San Clemente, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Maliah Lemaster (Josh) of Clarksburg, and Joda Pritt of Florida.

Micki is also survived by five of her siblings, Sister Gretchen Shaffer of Kermit, WV, Michael F. Shaffer (Mary) of Clarksburg, Martin L. Shaffer (Anne) of Fairmont, WV, Kristina Munger (Rick) of Tucson, AZ, and Donald Shaffer (Mary) in Tucson, AZ; as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.

Honoring her wishes, Micki was cremated. A memorial service will be held by her family at a time to be announced.
