In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Shreves will be cremated. The family will host a Celebration of his life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Freedom Shelter in the VA Park from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. A time of remembrance will be held at 5:00 pm.

Robert Eugene Shreves, 73, of Clarksburg, passed away at his home on Friday morning, August 9, 2024, surrounded by family.

Robert was born in Clarksburg, WV, on September 5, 1950, a son of the late Eugene and Agatha Bayless Shreves.

He is survived by his companion of several years, Shirley Leiva; his four children, Bobbi Swiger and husband Gene of Adamston, Jennifer Shreves of Adamston, DeLyse Lynet Shreves of Clarksburg and Katherine “Katie” Nicholson and her partner Kahlia Roberts of Michigan; one step son, Richard Gum; seven grandchildren, Derek Thompson, Alec Frazier, Zachary Sandy, Nicholas Sandy, Emeric Melott, Steven Swiger and Jacinda Swiger; twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way; and son-in-law, James Melott of Clarksburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by is son, Eric Shreves and his sister, Deborah Shreves Sprouse.

Robert was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School Class of 1968. He spent his career in the glass industry where he worked for Anchor Hocking, Brockway, and went on to work at Union Carbide.

After retirement he volunteered at the Mustard Seed and was a dedicated driver for Bi-County Nutrition Center. He loved good food and bragging about his children.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Shreves will be cremated.
