Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Home, 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Steve Felder officiating.   Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, where full military gravesite rites will be accorded.

Lewis Anthony “Lou” Stumpo, 70, of Bridgeport WW, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.

 

He was born October 9, 1945, son of the late Patty Arbogast Caputo, and the late Patsy Stumpo.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother to his 3 daughters, Linda (White) Stumpo, and their daughter, Tina Nicole Stumpo.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Traci Michelle and  Joseph Terango of Summit Point, WV, and Jennifer Careen and  Scott Duarte of Bridgeport, WV; six grandchildren, Anthony Terango, Dante Terango, Brock Duarte, Brennan Duarte, Sophia Duarte, Amelia Duarte; two brothers, Chuck Stumpo of Pasadena, CA, and Michael and Nancy Stumpo of Clarksburg, WV, two sisters, Debbie  Moneypenny of Clarksburg, WV, Donna Stumpo of Bridgeport,WW, two half brothers, Robert Caputo II of Stonewood, WV, and Tony Caputo of Hebron, Ky; and one half sister, Mary Caputo-Mells of Maitland, Fl.

 

Also surviving are his Aunt Joanne (Stumpo) Oliverio, and step-mother Lana Stumpo; two sisters-in-law, Diane and Gary Slaughter of Jane Lew, WV, and Carol White of Clarksburg, WV; two Nephews Michael Stumpo, and Glenda Landaverde, Joshua and Jaime Gutshall; five nieces Krista and Rakesh Sharma, Amy Moneypenny, Marie and Justin Mcvaney, Melissa and David Mccullough, Gabrielle  and Nick Vick; and several great nieces and nephews.

 

He is also preceded in death by his  grandparents Mike and  Catherine Stumpo, and two brothers-in-law, Jim Moneypenny, and Merv Gutshall.

 

Lewis graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1963, where he was a member of the national honor society and captain of both football and basketball teams his senior year. He loved telling stories and reminiscing about his days of playing ball. He loved to dance and especially loved Motown music. To know Lou, you were witness to his generosity and fun loving nature.

 

Lewis graduated from Fairmont State College with a degree in business administration.

 

He was immediately drafted into the U.S. army where he was a Specialist 4th class (SP4) in the 2nd Battalion 3rd Infantry “The Old Guard” Vietnam (1968-1970), the 199th Infantry Brigade. Medals/Honors include Republic of Vietnam service medal, US Armed Forces Military Merit Service Medal, National Defense Service medal, Army Good Conduct Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Medal., and Campaign Medal.

 

He then was employed by Nabisco Company where he worked for over 27 years. He was a dedicated, top sales representative and took great pride in his work. He was well respected and loved by the stores he serviced.

 

Lewis was an avid sports fan. He especially loved playing golf at Bel Meadow back in the day. He was an LA Dodgers baseball fan since his childhood. But his heart belonged to WVU sports… He loved the blue and gold and was one of their biggest fans.

 

Though he loved his sports, his biggest love and what brought him the most pride and joy in his life were his daughters and being “Pops” to his six grandchildren. He loved spending time with all of them and supporting them in whatever activity or sport they were in. He attended Horizons Church, Lost Creek, WV.

 

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support, thank you Bobby Secret and “the Friday lunch group” for your friendship and encouragement, thank you to his primary caregiver and sister Donna Stumpo who never wavered in her love and care for her brother, a very special thank you to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Louis a Johnson VA medical center, UHC cancer center, Dr. Watson and staff at WVU Cancer Center, Amedysis Hospice, Pittsburgh VA Fisher House, and West Penn Burn Center, and West Penn Hospice Care Center, your love and care will never be forgotten. And thank you to the Bridgeport Fire Department and surrounding fire departments for their service and sacrifice.
