I was saddened when I received the call from my sister, Toni Carter, that our beloved uncle Edward had passed away. I have been so grateful for the time that I had uncle Edward directly involved in my life during my high school years (1969 thru 1972). I needed the guidance of not just an uncle but a father figure. Uncle Edward was always there for me, especially when facing some difficult times in those high school years. When uncle Edward was made aware of any issues in my life, he took a direct, no nonsense approach to working out a solution. Uncle Edward took the time to speak to me during my high school years about life. Several of those conversations were life changing for me. I thanked Uncle Edward many times over the years for all that he did for me. On one occasion he just said “that’s what family does for each other.” The last phone call with uncle Edward gave me joy and closure. Uncle Edward talked about people, places and events that over the past 50 years I had forgotten about. We talked for a long time, and I appreciated uncle Edward taking the time to refresh my memory. I want to say one more time, thank-you uncle Edward, for everything. My condolences to our entire family.

I'm truly sorry for the loss of beloved uncle Edward. I was so blessed to visit with him and the family. I have wonderful memories that I hold dear to my heart. Uncle Edward was an extraordinary man whose love, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his family and community left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and compassion will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched. He embodied dedication and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own. While his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit and the beautiful memories he created will live on, serving as a guiding light in the days ahead. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you find solace in the cherished memories and the profound impact he made on each of your lives. My deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time.
