Obituaries

Nella Allen Gribble departed this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

She was born December 4, 1928, in Spencer, WV a daughter of the late Clee and Lillie Hively Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas Gordon Gribble, sisters Gertrude Allen Shreve Rogers, Goldie Allen Lukawecz, Eunice Allen Moore and brothers, Averill Allen, Marvin Allen and Ivan Allen.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great, great-nieces, great, great-nephews and God-daughters, Linda Dodd Fluharty and Elizabeth Wolfe Fox.

Nella was a member of Stealey United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women’s Organization and the church choir. Nella volunteered as a member of the United Hospital Center’s Women’s Auxiliary serving in the snack bar, the information desk and the gift shop. She served on the decorating committees of UHCs first and second Holly Balls. She was a lifetime member of the Clarksburg League for Service.

She graduated from Spencer High School having participated in gymnastics, basketball and softball. After high school, Nella began actively playing golf in leagues, tournaments and with friends. She and Gordon were previously active members of the Spencer Golf Club, the Bridgeport Country Club and the Sunny Croft Country Club.

Nella’s professional career included over ten years with The Traders Bank in Spencer and over twenty years at The Lowndes Bank in Clarksburg.

Pastor Danny Whited will officiate a family graveside service Saturday, October 28th at 11:00 am at the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer WV.
