Obituaries

Anna Soyak Fernandez, age 90, of Stonewood passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 following a brief illness.  She was born August 4, 1927 in Hughes, WV, a daughter of the late John Soyak and Veronica Baffik Soyak.  Her husband, Adolfo Fernandez, preceded her in death August 28, 2005.

Surviving are three children, Elaine McClain and her husband Richard of Clarksburg, Veronica Lindsay and her husband Scott of Bridgeport, and John Fernandez and his wife Sharon of Bridgeport.  Five grandchildren, Jason McClain, Jeremy McClain and his wife Ashley, Julie Bozarth and her husband Brian, Elizabeth Eaton and her companion James Carson, and Stacey Romano and her husband Sam.  Six great grandchildren, Colby McClain, Lacy, and Levi Bozarth, Lincoln McClain, Gabriel and Leo Romano.  She is also survived by her lifelong childhood friend, Virginia DeFazio of Stonewood.

Anna was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her sister Veronica Soyak.

Anna was a dedicated member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Above all, she was a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Fernandez will be cremated.  Family and friends will gather at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM where a Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Father Kent Durig as Celebrant.  Inurnment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 8092 S. 3^rd Street, Stonewood, WV  26301.
