Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Tuesday, October 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Prayer Vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 126 E. Pike Street, Clarksburg with Father Casey Mahone as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Betty Jean Cody Monteleone, 87, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on September 27, 2024, at her residence.

She was born on December 17, 1936, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa Pugliese Cody.

Betty was married on August 10, 1957, to Domenick Monteleone, Jr., who preceded her in death.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Russell J. Cody, Sam Cody, Anthony “Ham” Cody, Macey Hendrickson, Mary Hummel, and Rosemarie Fox.

Mrs. Monteleone is survived by her children, Donna J. (Anthony) Secret, Marc A. (Christine) Monteleone and Shelly M. (Scott Chervenick) Monteleone, her grandchildren, Michael A. Secret, Adam M. Secret, Allisyn E. (Matthew Rudolph) Monteleone, Alexis C. Monteleone, Dominic A. Monteleone, Alexander V. Chervenick, and Olivia N. Chervenick; and a very special great-granddaughter, Cecelia Nicole Rudolph. Also surviving are two special nieces and their husbands, Marianne and Dr. Michael Taylor and Theresa and Douglas White.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to her great nephew, Dr. James Malone, wonderful neighbors, Carla and John Thornhill and special friend, Tammy Swiger.

Betty worked as an office Manager and Bookkeeper at Roger Builders for over 25 years. She served as President of the Harrison County Senior Citizen’s Bingo Club, where she made many special friends, including Janet Tate and Ida Grotie.

She co-chaired the Immaculate Conception Parish Store with her good friend Carla Iaquinta, who was her lunch buddy for over 20 years.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, never missing the chance to call and sing Happy Birthday even if it was 8:00 am and off key. She tried to attend every recital, basketball, football, baseball, wrestling and Lacrosse game, and never missed a homecoming or prom picture taking event. She was proud of her grandchildren and the success they achieved.
